Welcome to our family - Focus on 'Organic Constellation' by Hyacinthe Ouattara
It is always a joy to welcome new works into our collection. As we close the chapter on 2025, we are delighted to share a work by an artist whose practice explores the notion of healing and restoring connection. The artist deconstructs textiles and reshapes them into organic forms, celebrating vital impulses that hold things together, impulses of interconnection, inviting us to dive into the very heart of what makes us human.
Hyacinthe Ouattara (b. 1981, Burkina Faso) explores intimacy, memory, and transmission through textile. Using yarn, stitching, and knots - what he calls “sewn hearts” - he creates fragile yet powerful forms that speak of care, protection, and ancestral heritage.
Organic Constellation (2019) belongs to an eponymous series in which the artist sews and ties, illustrating what it takes to repair, to heal and to restore connection where a tear once existed. Through an organic network of threads and fabrics - visible stitches and tangled fibers - Ouattara evokes notions of interconnection, origins, and the quiet poetry of life itself. The work celebrates a vital impulse to hold things together, an impulse of interconnection, even interdependence, that binds us to the world around us.
