We are pleased to invite you to the group exhibition “ART·HAND·WORK” at the Nasjonalmuseet – The National Museum of Norway (Oslo), running from 19 September 2025 to 1 February 2026, which will feature Cloud II (2018), a work by Bouke de Vries from our collection.

“ART·HAND·WORK” explores the shifting boundaries between craft, design, and fine art at the turn of the 21st century. Bringing together around 100 works by more than 90 international artists, the exhibition highlights a rich variety of media – ceramics, textiles, glass, metal, wood, video, and large-scale installations – illustrating how craft practices transcend their traditional frameworks.

Within this remarkable constellation, Bouke de Vries’s work will be presented in the thematic section “Everyday Life”, where familiar objects are reinterpreted as poetic vehicles for exploring individual and collective histories. The installation, inspired by the elaborate 18th-century banquet centerpieces, offers a subtle reflection on memory, conviviality, and the transformation of craft traditions.
